The truth about

Google Ads: robocalls, junk clicks and settings that waste money

The myth

A 'Google Partner' who calls you out of the blue can get you to the top of Google.

The truth

Google doesn't robocall business owners to fix their listing or ranking. Those calls are resellers or outright scams.

Inside real accounts, the bigger waste is usually settings: Search Partners and Display Network turned on for search campaigns, broad keywords, and no conversion tracking.

Check this yourself

  1. Open your Google Ads account → Campaign settings → Networks.
  2. If 'Search Partners' or 'Display Network' is checked on a search campaign, you may be paying for junk clicks.
  3. Then open Tools → Conversions. If nothing is listed, nobody knows what your ads produce.

What I'd do in your shoes

  • Hang up on unsolicited 'Google' calls.
  • Turn off Search Partners and Display on search campaigns until there's proof they work.
  • Set up conversion tracking before spending another dollar.

Questions

Does Google ever call businesses?+

Google's own reps may contact advertisers who already spend with them. They won't threaten your listing or promise rankings.

Is the Google Partner badge meaningless?+

It shows an agency meets some spend and certification thresholds. It doesn't prove they'll get you results.
